The petition of Elizabeth Meriton, residence unknown, 19 September 1648

<Petic[i]on of widow Merriton.>
To ye right hono[ura]ble ye Com[mi]ttee of Lords & Com[m]ons for the Army.
The Humble petic[i]on of Elizabeth Meriton widow ye late wife of John Meriton waggoner.
Sheweth
To yo[u]r Hono[u]rs That yo[u]r pet[itione]rs Husband serued the Parl[iamen]t as waggoner in the Troope of Artillery vnder his Ex[cellen]cie Thomas Lord Fairfax in w[hi]ch service yo[u]r pet[itione]r [sic.] [illegible] was slaine at Bridgewater as by Certificate appeares.
Now right Hono[ura]ble yo[u]r pet[itione]r being left in a most sadd condition, w[i]th 2 Children & nothing to p[ro]uide for her, beseecheth yo[u]r Hono[u]rs to giue order for the stateing & paying off her husbands Arreares to yo[u]r said pet[itione]r or esle [sic.] shee & her children are like to p[er]ish in these miserable tymes [illegible] hauing noe howse to put her head in.
And shee shall pray &c.
Att ye Com[mi]ttee of Lords & Com[m]ons for the Army. 19p Septemb[er] 1648.
Ordered
That ye Com[missa]ry Gen[era]ll of ye Musters or his Deputy doe forthw[i]th certify this Com[m]ittee how ye pet[itione]rs Husband stands vpon the Musters of ye Army & doe affix the same to this petic[i]on.
