The petition of Elizabeth Lindope of Wybunbury, Cheshire, Trinity 1650

To the Right worshipfull the Justices of the peace and the rest of the Gentlemen at this present sessions: the humble remonstrance and Petition of Elizabeth Lindope of Wibumbury vid[ua]
Sheweth that your pet[itioner] being a very poore aged widow vnable to labor for her liuelyhood as formerly and her husband being lately dead, who was a Pensioner as a Maymed souldier which pension was a greate p[ar]t of the stay and maintenance of your pet[itioner] and her saide deceased husband: they then neither shee now haueing any thing to subsist on but her owne endeuors & the charittie of good neighbors & therefore
Most humbly prayeth that you[r] worsh[ips] will be pleased to grant that your poore aged pet[itioner] may enioy the benifite of the saide pension still to succor her in her ould age, according to that Clemency & mercy you haue beene pleased to shewe to others in the like misserable condition and to enrole her in your list in her saide husbands place & your pet[itioner] will blesse God for your goodness & euer pray for yo[u]r worsh[ips] happinesse.
Wee whose names are subscribed &c
Inhabitants of the p[ar]ish of Wibunbury knowing the Contents of this peticion to be true doe humbly request your Worships will be pleased to grant [two illegible words] the pet[itioner’s] request: And the rather because that the saide pet[itioner] hath Three sonnes in actuall service for the Common wealth farr from her, who would helpe to releiue her if the[y] wear nearer.
