The petition of Elizabeth Jenkinson of Claughton, Lancashire, Michaelmas 1675

To the Worshippfull his Majestyes Justices of peace & Quor[um] in the County Pall[atine] of Lanc[aste]r.
The humble pet[i]c[i]on of Elizabeth Jenkinson of Claughton a poore distressed widow:
Sheweth that whereas William Jenkinson your pet[i]c[i]oners Late husband was formerly a maimed soldier And for severall Last past yeares had a yearely [illegible] penc[i]on of foure poundes p[er] Annu[m] for his service done towards the Releife of himselfe his wife & Two smale Children And whereas your pet[i]c[i]oners husband is Lately dead & a p[ar]te of his yearely penc[i]on in arreare & unpay’d to him at the tyme of his death & hath Left your pet[i]c[i]oner ab[ou]t sixty yeares of age & two poore Children & no Estate or maintainance to maintaine them withall whereby they are wholy destitute of mantainance & become objects of pitty.
May it Therefore please your good worshipps to Continue the paym[en]t of the said yearely stipend of foure poundes a yeare to your pet[i]c[i]oner in the reliefe of her & her Children [illegible] her & her Children such weekly reliefe as your worshipps shall thinke fitt
And your pet[i]c[i]oner shall pray &c
to pay the arreares yf any bee
