The petition of Elizabeth Heawood of Manchester, Lancashire, Epiphany 1651

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace & Cora[m] for the County of Lancast[er].
The Petic[i]on of Elisabeth Heawood of Manchest[e]r
Humbly sheweth
That yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs late husband Samuell Heawood A Sould[ie]r for this Com[m]onwealth dyed in the service thereof in Scotland in his lyfe time dureing his lyfe was possessed of p[ar]t of a dwelling house in the Millnegate in Manchester w[hi]ch since his decease is threatned against yo[u]r peticion[e]r to be turned out of it, she having a yonge Child, herselfe very impotent and infirme is disabled for worke towards her mayntenance or to pay Rent for the same.
She humbly desires yo[u]r wor[ship]s order for some Competencie of meanes or Allowance for the Releefe of her Yonge Child & for the payment of the Rent of the sayd dwelling house.
And yo[u]r petic[i]oner will ever pray.
