To the Honn[ou]rable the Justices of peace for the Countie Pal[atine] of Chester Assembled at Chester Januarie the 22th 1649

The Humble petic[i]on of Elizabeth Ellom vid[ua]

Humbly Sheweth

That yo[u]r petic[i]oners late Husband was a soldier vnder the Command of S[i]r W[illia]m Brereton and one belonging to his Troope and being vppo[n] service was shott at Rowton fight w[hi]ch proved soe Mortall that hee was Carried fro[m] thence to Namptw[i]ch and died of the said wound about two dayes after, That yo[u]r petic[i]oner is a verie poore woman haueing one Child and little or noe meanes to subsist on: The pr[e]mises considered

yo[u]r petic[i]oner humbly prayes yo[u]r honnors would bee pleased to graunt yo[u]r pet[i]c[i]o[ne]r some alowance such as is thought fit in yo[u]r wisdom for Widdows and Orphanes and yo[u]r pet[i]c[i]oner will Euer as in dutie pray &c
