The petition of Elizabeth Edmondson of Heysham, Lancashire, Epiphany 1664

To the right wor[shi]ppfull his ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace & quorum for the Countie Pallatine of Lancaster
The humble petic[i]on of Elizabeth the wife of Francis Edmondson of Heysham as followeth
Humbly sheweth that your petic[i]on[e]rs husband being a soldier for his late Ma[jes]tie of blessed memory in the Army vnder com[m]and of the late lord Langdale & in the Regim[en]t of Col[one]l Francis Midleton and his Lievten[an]t Col[one]l Layborne in ye second warr as appears by a Certificate vnder the hands of his Leivten[an]t Col[one]l and others hearvnto annexed he was Allowed by Mr Girlington and Mr Carus to haue a pencion out of the parishes as one of ye Maymed & indigent soldiers, but at the last paym[en]t he was putt out of the list and had noe pay, And since he is gone away from his wife and left her most miserably and in great povertie w[i]th a yong child not halfe a yeare old and not having any thing to Maynteyne her selfe and her child w[i]thall
May it therefore please your wor[shi]pps to take the pr[e]misses into Consideration that your poore petic[i]oner may haue the Allowance that her husband formerly had towards the maynte{nance of} her self and her litle Infant And that yo[u]r {illegible} Order that her name may be putt {illegible} {t}he same Allowance as other of {illegible} And yo[u]r petic[i]oner as {in duty bound will ever pray &c}
