The petition of Elizabeth Didlowe of Wimboldsley, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1651

To the right honorable they [sic.] Justices of Peace of the Countie Palatine of Chester the humble Petition of Elizabeth Didlowe of Wimboldsley in the County aforesaid widdowe

Sheweth

That your poore Petitioner being bereft of her [illegible] husband her only support vnder god who was slayne in the late battail of Worcester being then vnder the command of Colonell Thomas Croxton is exposed to many ineuitable dificulties shee hath three tender and helplesse orphans poor fatherlesse children left to her Custody and little or no means towards the mayntenance or education of them but in all probabilitie they with your Petitioner may bee made they [sic.] sub[jec]ts of misery except they may bee lookt vpon by your honors as the obiects of me pittie And where as your Petitioner is in formed that other soldiers haue some addition by way of aduance to their ordinary pay shee humbly conceiues that the fidelity of her husband to the present gouernment which hath bin famous among his neighbours may craue the same benefitt.

May it therefore please your Honors vpon consideration of they [sic.] premisses to admitt your solitary and husbandlesse Petitioner into the number of they [sic.] Pensioners of this County as also such a dua aduantage as to other soldiers by way of aduance is allowd whereby shee may h bee in some measure bee inabled to vphold preserue herself and preserue her poore children you would ingage your her in all humility to pray &c
