The petition of Elizabeth Crompton of Turton, Lancashire, 2 June 1652

To ye right worship[fu]ll the Justices of Peace and Quorum w[i]thin the Countie of Lanc[aste]r when or weare they or any of them shal be convented &c June iith 1652
The Humble petic[i]on of Elizabeth Crompton of Turton vid[ua]
Humbly sheweth vnto yo[u]r good worships:
That wheareas yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner being left destitute of any releefe for her selfe and fouer little children voide of comfort haveing lost her husband in the seruice for this Comon=wealth, throwne out of house and harboure, who hath spent all that she had in seekeing redresse and helpe from yo[u]r worships hands and haveing obtained a warrant directed to the Counstables of Boulton is by them contemned and altogether slighted tending to the vtter ruine and overthrowe of yo[u]r said poore petic[i]oner w[i]thout some speedie course bee taken in this behalfe:
May if thearefore please yo[u]r good worships to take into yo[u]r serious and grave considerac[i]ons the pr[e]misses tendering yo[u]r petic[i]oner sad condic[i]on and ordering the same as law and ju{stice} requireth and is in yt case p[ro]voided and yo[u]r petic[i]oner will dailely pray yt ye Assistance of all heavenly benedic[i]on may bee perpetually distilled vpon yow and yo[u]rs:
