The petition of Elizabeth Acton of Nantwich, Cheshire, Trinity 1661

To the Right Wor[sh]ip[fu]ll the Justices of Peace at their Quarter Sessions Assembled
The humble Petic[i]on of Elizabeth Acton the Relict of Capt[ain] Richard Acton late of Nampt[i]ch deceased
<Humbly Sheweth>
That yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs s[ai]d late husband, did expend seu[e]rall Sumes of Money in Raiseing a foote Company, vnder the Comand of the Right hon[ou]r[a]ble the Lord Delamere, in the Army lately raysed in Cheshire, for the happie Restaurac[i]on of his Ma[jes]ty, to all his Kingdomes, wherein yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs s[ai]d husband was very faithfull actiue & diligent:
That hee being incouraged (after the Kings returne to his Crowne) to receiue some Reward or Imploym[en]t towards his reimbursm[en]ts, or satisfacc[i]on, for his greate paynes & expences, did vndertake a Journey to London, w[hi]ch necessarily occasioned him to runne into further Debts:
That after his returne home, the Com[missione]rs for the Militia, did make him Marshall gen[e]rall, w[i]th p[ro]mise of pay for his due execuc[i]on of that place, w[i]thin this County, wherein hee was alsoe very Carefull & vigilant, & was at greate Charges in his Constant attendance of the s[ai]d Com[missione]rs at their seu[e]rall frequent Meetings, whereby and by seu[e]rall other meanes to advance his Ma[jes]t[y]s interest hee left yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r (at his Death) very much indebted, shee haueing a greate Charge of young Children
May it therefore please yo[u]r wor[shi]ps duely Considering the pr[e]misses to admitt yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r to bee a Penc[i]on[e]r & allow vnto her and an Annuall Penc[i]on whereby shee may bee in some measure reimbursed or by some other way or meanes to grant vnto her such other Releige in the pr[e]misses as to yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps shall seeme meete
And shee will ever pray &c
