The petition of Elinor Chaundler of Swindon, Wiltshire, Michaelmas 1653

The humble petic[i]on of Elinor Chaundler of Swindon in the County of Wilte[shire]
Sheweth
That yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner did at this generall Sessions was a twelue monthes petic[i]on this wor[shi]p[fu]ll Bench for maynetenance towards the releefe of yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r and fiue smale children yo[u]r poore pet[itione]rs husband haueinge ben in seruice in the kingdome of Ireland for the common wealth of England these fower yeares, and order was made by the sayd Sessions directed to the two nearest Justices of the Peace who ordered that yo[u]r petic[i]oner should haue 1 s. 3 d. p[er] weeke from the sayd parish; but it is soe smale an allowance that yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r is not able to subsist nor p[ro]uide necessaries for her poore Orphans:
May it therefore please this wor[shi]p[fu]ll bench to reorder that yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r may haue some farther allowance whereby yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r & her fiue smale children may not p[eri]sh:
Yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall euer be bound &c
