The petition of Elinor Bostock of Occlestone, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1651

To ye right Wor[shipfu]ll ye Justices of the peace of this County att this their present Quarter sessions at Northwich
The humble Petic[i]on of Elinor Bostock of Ocleston widow
Humbly sheweth to your Worshipps that your petic[i]on[er]s late husband John Bostock hathe beene a souldier in the Parliam[en]t service since the beginninge of the late warrs as is well knowne vnto Col[one]l Thomas Croxton vnder whose Command hee ever was And carryed himself soe well and was soe dilligent and faithfull in the sayd seruice that hee was verry well approved of both by the sayd Collonell and all his officers And goeinge out agaynst the Scotts at Worcester vpon the last designe theare it was his fortune to bee slayne soe that your petic[i]oner is vtterly vndone (if some releefe bee nott allowed her Now in regard that your petic[i]on[e]rs husband served for a tenem[en]t in Occleston aforesayd now in the possession of one M[ist]ris Harrison w[hi]ch is worth 60 li. p[er] annu[m] at the least and never had any thinge from her, soe that your petic[i]oner knoweth not how to keepe her 2 poore Children
Yo[u]r petic[i]oner therfore humbly prayeth that she may haue some pr[e]sent allowance from the sayd Mrs Harrison towards keeping of her Children & that she may bee admitted a penc[i]oner and haue such an annuall allowance as yow shall thinke fitt And yo[u]r pet[itioner] will ever pray &c
