The petition of Elias Quicke of Kilmington, Devon, 1679

To the hono[u]r[a]ble his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace att the generall sessions in and for the County of Devon
The humble petic[i]on of Elias Quicke of Kilmington.
Sheweth.
That yo[u]r petic[i]oner haueinge for many yeares past faithfully served our late sov[e]raigne Lord King Charles the first in the late warrs vnder the Com[m]aund of Collonell Cholmley, and S[i]r Courtenay Pole in w[hi]ch service yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r lost the vse of his right hand for w[hi]ch service this hon[ou]r[a]ble Bench were pleased to allowe yo[u]r peticon[e]r a pention but of late haue withheld the same from yo[u]r peticon[e]r whereby yo[u]r peticon[e]r is brought to great poverty beinge vnable to gett a livelyhood.
Yo[u]r peticon[e]r therefore doth implore yo[u]r hono[u]rs to grant him a continuance of his pent[i]on towards his releife to saue him from his extreame poverty vnder which hee is in, by reason of his beeinge maimed in the hand.
And yo[u]r petic[i]oner shall ever pray &c.

The petitioner I know was [?Justlie] suspended his pention: he hath suffer[e]d for and does acknowlege his offence. I desire he may be restored for his Former services
