The petition of Elias Heneker of Wye, Kent, 1654

To the right wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace for the Countie of Kent now assembled at the Generall Sessions of the peace for the Countie of Kent
The humble petic[i]on of Elias Heneker
Humbly sheweth that yo[u]r petic[i]oner in the yeare of our Lord 1651 went into the Service of the Comonwealth in Ireland vnder the Comand of Captaine John Grist, in the Regiment of Colonell Lawrance, where yo[u]r petic[i]oner continued by the space of twelue Monthes In w[hi]ch service your petic[i]oner lost all the [illegible] vse of his Feete, and is become Lame and vnable to worke for his liuelyhood and subsistence; being now growne poore: not having any Frends to relieue & comfort him
He May it therefore please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to take his poore condic[i]on into comiserac[i]on, and to grant him a stipend yearely towards his Maintenance: And as in duty bound hee shall ever pray &c
