The petition of Edward Wheelton and Edward Prior, both of Derby, Derbyshire, 23 October 1645

To ye hono[ura]ble Com[m]ittee att derbye
The humble Petic[i]on of Edward Wheelton and Edward Prior Souldiers vnder ye Com[m]and of Captaine Villars belongeinge to ye Regim[en]t in derbye.
Humbly Sheweth
That wheras yo[u]r Petic[i]oners haueinge a longe tyme beene Souldiers in derbye and have always beene ready to doe, and have already done very good Service for ye Parliam[en]t, but nowe of late in the sayde Service were maymed & wounded, soe yt for ye pr[e]sent are altogether vnable to doe any Service vntill it please god they bee recover’d.
Therefore humbly praye that you would bee pleased, for ye good Service yt yo[u]r Petic[i]oners haue already done for ye Parliam[en]t, to allowe and give vnto them weekely such money as will Suffice vntill such tyme, as yo[u]r Petic[i]oners shal bee able to doe therein Service againe w[hi]ch they will bee ready to p[er]forme.
And yo[u]r Petic[i]oners will humbly praye &tc.
<Itt is ordered by ye Com[m]ittee att derby that the treasurer pay vnto Edward Wheeldon & Edward Pryor (beinge two hurt souldiers) the towards their quarters eyther of them xx s.>
