The petition of Edward Sutton of Lathom, Lancashire, Michaelmas 1672

To the r[igh]t wor[shi]pp[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace and quor[um] at the Generall quarter sessions of peace holden at Wigan.
The humble petic[i]on of Edward Sutton of Lathome and [sic.] Indigent souldier humbly, sheweth that your petticioner was forced to travell att the generall Sessions of Ass[i]zes and theire S[i]r Will[ia]m Wilde confirmed mee six pence a weeke with in ye Lordshipp of Latham and enjoyned mee sixpence a weeke wherein I was borne In the towne of Tarleton and ye rather the peticioner father bulded a schoole out of his one Charges by ye aduice of the best inhabitants and when it was builded ye [sic.] would beare noe penny with him ye Overseeres of the poore deneyed to pay six pence a weeke to your peticioner The p[re]misis considered yt your worshipps yt yow would bee pleased to grant him and [sic.] order for to engage ye over seers of the poore to pay him as aboves[ai]d yt hee may have Lodgeing in ye towne where hee was born
