The humble petic[i]oner of Edward Ricketts a maymed souldier
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r petic[i]oner haue serued the state and in the said seruice haue lost the vse of one of his Armes, vnder the comaund of Capt[ain] Groome in the regiment of Col[one]l: Barkstead as by certificate will appeare attested by diuerse hands yo[u]r poore and distressed pet[itione]r beinge by reason of the losse of his Arme vtterly vnable to suport himselfe his wife and three smale children havinge noe meanes of subsistance doe prostrate himselfe to yo[u]r most serious considerac[i]ons hopinge you wil be pleased to looke vpon yo[u]r pet[itione]rs his wife and childrens sadd and disconsolate condic[i]on
And doe humbly craue this Wor[shipfu]ll Bench yt a penc[i]on may be allowed yo[u]r pet[itione]r being an Inhabitant in this County as haue ben to others in the like cases and as diuerse Statutes and ordinances of Parl[iamen]t haue prouided that soe yo[u]r pet[itione]r and his wife and childre[n] may not be vtterly voyd of meanes to pr[e]serue themselues.
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall euer be bound to pray &c
