The humble petition of Edward Pinsent of Bridford in the county afor[e]s[ai]d.
<Sheweth>
That y[ou]r petic[i]on[er] served his late ma[jes]tie King Charles the first of ever blessed memory for many yeares together und[e]r the sev[e]rall Com[m]ands of Major Fulford Capt[ain] Gidley Capt[ain] Walrond and Capt[ain] Day in the sieges ag[ain]st Plymouth Exeter Dartmouth Barnestaple & Biddiford in w[hi]ch and in div[er]se other his s[ai]d Ma[jes]ties service y[ou]r petic[i]on[er] rec[eive]d div[er]se hurts w[hi]ch togeather with such hardshipps as y[ou]r petic[i]on[er] ther endured doe hinder y[ou]r petition[e]r from being able to gett his livelihood by his labour as formerly and y[ou]r petition[e]r being alwayes loyall & faithfull to his s[ai]d Ma[jes]ties service and never deserting ye same humbly prayes the hon[ou]rable C[our]te of y[ou]r wonted clemency to consider the p[re]misses & to graunt y[ou]r peticion[e]rs penc[i]on peti[t]ion[e]r such annuall penc[i]on as y[ou]r wors[hi]pps shall please & y[ou]r petition[e]r shall ev[e]r pray &c
<I well rememb[e]r the peti[ti]on[e]r was for sev[era]ll yeares of ye late unhappy warrs und[e]r my Com[m]and & believe hee was alsoe und[e]r the Com[m]and of the gent[leman] before named & yt he was constantly loyall.>

Wee ye minister X[ur]ch warden & overseers of ye parish of Bridford doe certifye yt Edward Pinson is a very poor man & impotent not able to get [h]is livelihood as formerly by reason of ye wounds receaved in his late Ma[jes]ties service.
