The humble petic[i]on of Edward Griffith

Sheweth

That y[ou]r pet[itione]r was a souldior in the late vnhappy warres for kinge Charles the first of blessed memory vnder the Comaund of Prince Rupert & Prince Morris where he hath bene att seu[er]all fights & schirmises & receiued seu[er]all wounds & from the service in England where he continued his service for the kinge vnder the Comaund of S[i]r John Greenefield went ouer to the Ile of Silly & there the Iland beinge taken was there kept pr[i]son[er] for a long time & beinge releeued came to his Ma[jes]ty that nowe is to Scotland & thence came ou[er] for England w[i]th his Ma[jes]ty vnder the Comaund of the Earle of Derby & was taken att Wigen in that route there & was brought pr[i]son[er] to Boulton by reason of all w[hi]ch service & of his seu[er]all wounds he is not able to gett his livinge

Wherefore the pr[e]misses considered May it please y[ou]r wor[shi]ps to graunt y[ou]r peti[tione]r a stipend out towards his mainetenance out of the maymed souldiers mize of this Com[itatus] & y[ou]r pet[itione]r will eu[er] pray &c.
