The petition of Edward Forth of Lancaster, Lancashire, 14 January 1673

To the Wor[shi]pp[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace and quo[rum] att Lanc[aster] sessions holden the 14th of Jan[ua]ry 1672
The humble petic[i]on of Edward Forth of Lanc[aste]r
Most humbly sheweth that yo[u]r petic[io]ner hath the yearly pension of xx s. allowed him but yo[u]r petic[io]n[e]r being lamed in his Ma[jes]ties Seruis and he not being able to follow his trade and calling yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r is brought into great want and poverty his pension being but A smale Allowance & not able to s[u]pply yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r[s] wants and [illegible] necessities.
That yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r did at A generall meeting of his Ma[jes]ties Justic[e]s of peace heare holden att Lanc[aste]r make his condition appeare to th[e] right Hon[ou]rable Earle of Derby who granted yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r the yearly pension of 4 li. but yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r as yet never received the said Alowance now yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r humbly prays yo[u]r wors[hi]ps to take into consideration his sad & deplorable condition and allow vnto him the yearly pesion [sic.] of foure pounds and yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r as in duty bounde will Ever pray for yo[u]r health and hapin[e]ss &c
