The petition of Edward Fisher of Derby, Lancashire, Epiphany 1655

To the Right Worshipfull ye Justices of ye Peace And quorum Assembled at ye Quart[e]r Sessions at Wigann

The humble petic[i]on of Edward Fisher of Derbie

Humbly sheweth That yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner beinge First A Militia Souldier in the regiment of Collonell Gilbert Ireland, And imployed into Scotland vnd[e]r the Com[m]and of Collonell Standish, After beinge in the Regiment of Collonell William West grievously wounded at Worcester fight hath since Languished of his Wounds, & is at present in a very feeble And weake condic[i]on & noe ways able (haveinge A wife & two small children) to help him selfe but for want of meanes wherew[i]th to procure some remedie, even beginns to dispaire of any helpe or cure vnlesse yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps (to whom he makes his humble addresses att p[re]sent) would be pleased to giue him libertie in A publick way to seeke the Charities & benevolences of pious And well disposed people, And com[m]end his Condic[i]on to the several minist[e]rs of ye severall & respectiue Congregac[i]ons within these hundreds. Or els to Insert him within ye liste of Maimed Souldiers within this County whereby he may be enabled to receaue A standinge pay, Or otherwise y[o]w would be pleased to giue order to the Treasurer for the maimed Souldiers to pay him A Certaine Summe quarterly vntill his wounds be cured: And yo[u]r Petic[i]oner shall as in duty bound forever pray &c.
