The petition of Edward Faunt of Sevenoaks, Kent, 1661

To the Right Wor[ship]ful the Justices of his Ma[jes]ties peace for this Countie of Kent.

The humble Petition of Edward Faunt.

Sheweth

That y[ou]r Pet[itio]n[e]r hath ever bin faithful to ye Royal Interest, And in ye year 1648 was actively engaged in the service at Colchester under ye command of Collonel James Till.

That he there received several dangerous wounds, of w[hi]ch he is not yet perfectly cured, & by w[hi]ch together with his hardship & Imprisonm[en]t there, he hath bin for a long time disabled to follow his Calling, of Gardening; or to pay for his Physic & cure, or to supply ye necessary wants of himself his wife & children; for w[hi]ch contracted debts he is in danger of arrest, and they al of starving; unles y[ou]r Wor[shi]ps pious and timely care prevent his otherwise unavoidable misery & ruine.

He praies yt in regard of his faithful services & great sufferings, (al w[hi]ch ye annexed Certificates will make appear) y[ou]r Wor[shi]ps would out of y[ou]r indulgent Charities seriously commiserate his indigencies & deplorable condicion; by a speedie reliefe of his urgent necessities, by what waies & meanes y[ou]r Wor[shi]ps in y[ou]r wisedomes shal think most expedient.

And as in duty bound he shal ever pray &c.
