The petition of Edward Edwards, Denbighshire, 5 October 1658

To the right wo[rshipfu]ll the Justices of Peace at this pr[e]sent q[ua]rter Sessions held for the said County.
The humble pettic[i]on of Edward Edwards a poor maymed souldier
Humbly sheweth, vnto yo[u]r wo[rsh]ips, That yo[u]r poore pettic[i]on[er], haveinge beene a souldier for the state and hath rec[eive]d a wound, by a muskett bullet out of Denbigh Castle, And that yo[u]r wo[rsh]ips, haue alowed yo[u]r poore pett[itione]r a smale penc[i]on of the some of fiue marks yearely (as app[er]es by the Order Annexed), And Further, yo[u]r petti[t]ion[er] hath pettic[i]oned form[er]ly yo[u]r wo[rsh]ips, for more allowance, Itt beinge smale as aforsaid. And that, the right w[orshipfu]ll Mr Thelwall p[ro]mised as soone as any pention[er] should dye to allowe gett yo[u]r pett[itione]r more allowed him.
Nowe may it please yo[u]r wo[rsh]ips that Peeter Salusbury beinge form[er]ly a pett pention[er] nowe of Late is dead. & some others w[hi]ch yo[u]r pett[itione]r cannot no[m]i[n]ate.
Yo[u]r pett[itione]rs humble request is to yo[u]r wo[rsh]ips to Consider his poore estate, beinge nott able, to worke, & gett his livelihood by reason of the said shott, And is in great pou[er]ty by reason of his smale penc[i]on, And that yo[u]r wo[rsh]ips will Order yo[u]r pett[itione]r some p[ar]te of the said Peeter Salusburys penc[i]on form[er]ly, And for yo[u]r Wo[rsh]ips order heerin yo[u]r pett[itione]r will eu[er] pray &c.
And this for gods Love.
Ruthin the 5t of October 1658.
Ordered by the Co[u]rt That the Petic[i]on[er] shall have xxv s. by the yeare Quarterly paid him during his life for a as an addic[i]on to his former penc[i]on by the cl[a]r[k]e of the Peace vntill further order
