The petition of Edward Burford of Longbridge Deverill, Wiltshire, undated

To the righte wor[shi]p[fu]ll Justices Nowe assembled &c
The humble petic[i]on of Edward Burford late of Deu[eri]l Longbridg in ye county aforesayd
Who humbelie sheweth that hee serued A Troop vnder the commaund of Collonell Edmond Ludlowe by the space of twoe yeares wherein yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r was Mayned [sic.] as it appeareth by A certieficate vnder the hand of his sayd Col[one]l and alsoe vnder the hand of the Chieurgion in w[hi]ch sayd seruice hee receaueinge noe pay spent his owne estate w[hi]ch hee nowe standeth in wante of in regard of his Mayne [sic.] vnable for to gett his Mainetenance as formerly hee could
The premises considered hee humblely [sic.] prayeth that this wor[shi]p[fu]l Bintch [sic.] will be pleased to Allowe him such Alloweance as you they in yo[u]r graue wisdeomes shall thinke fitt and the lawes and statutes of this Realme doth afford And yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[er] as in duety byndeth shall daylie pray &c
