The petition of Edward ap Evan Griffieth of Llandegla in Yale, Denbighshire, 3 June 1671

The humble pettition of Ed[war]d ap Evan Griffieth of the parish of Llandegla in Yale, in the s[ai]d Com[itatus] of Denbigh
Sheweth That your pettitioner, and his wife haue lived by their Care & best industerie, these many yeares past free fro[m] being any Charge vnto the sayd parish vntill of late yeares, he {&} his wife being above Eight score yeares of age and of late yeares much decayed in strength & estate, and grown very weake & poore, & not able to stir abroade for their sustenance, by reason of their dymmnesse in sight and weakenesse in bodye, are in a sade condic[i]on, & also haue lost a sonne of theirs in the warrs, vnder the Com[m]aund of Sir Evan Lloyd Knight, & Bevis Lloyd, Esq[uire] in his Ma[jes]ties service, who in his life tyme was a great healpe for their maintenance and now destitute of Comfort & reliefe, had not ye charitie of well disposed neighbours, been bounteously Extended towards them. they might haue perished for want.
The pr[e]misses Considered your pettitioner humbly prayeth your wor[shi]ps recomendac[i]on of his condic[i]on to the Charitie of all good people into soe many a[d]iacent parishes in the sayd Com[itatus], in yo[u]r pe[ti]c[i]one[r]s neighbour hoode that your wor[shi]ps shall thinke fitt towards their reliefe & yo[u]r pettic[i]oner will Ever pray
Wee the parishioners & inhabitants of the parish of Llandegla in the Com[itatus] of Denbigh; doe know the Contents of this pettition to be true; the pettitioner desireing our Certificate thereof for testimonie, wee haue here vnto subscribed our hands the third day of June Anno D[omi]ni 1671. 23o Car[olus] Secundi
