To the honno[u]r[a]ble and Right Worshippfull his Majesties Justices of the peace for the county Palatyne of Lancaster at the sherrifes board at Lancaster

The humble petic[i]on of Edmund Sudell of Fishwicke in the county aforesaid husbandman

<Sheweth>

That your petic[i]oner hath beene in Actuall Armes for his late Majestie at the feight at Yorke and vpon his Maiesties Service soe doune by yo[u]r Petic[i]oner hee hath lost his Eye Sight and hath beene taken prisoner for some longe tyme by the Parliaments partie and is a very poore man haueinge noethinge in the world to manteyne him (Save what hee gaines through the Charitie of good people

Therfore his humble request is that your worshipps will bee pleased to allowe him some manteynance whereby hee may live without begginge releife soe much as hee hath doune and yo[u]r petic[i]oner as however in dutie will euer pray &c.
