The petition of Edmund Sudell of Fishwick, Lancashire, 11 July 1661

To the worshippfull the Justices of the peace and quorum at the sessions holden at Preston this xith day of July instant 1661.

The humble petic[i]on of Edmund Sudell of Fishwicke in the county of Lancaster husbandman:

Humbly sheweth

That whereas your petic[i]oner being a very ould man and as pleased the Lord lost his Eye sight in the service of the late kinge Charles at the feight at Yorke vnder the comand of the Lord Mollineuxe and at his retorne from the said feight It was ordered by the Justices of peace w[i]thin this county that the Inhabitants within the said towne of Fishwicke should pay vnto your petic[i]oner tenne shillings a yeare dureinge his life w[hi]ch thus farr they haue performed butt onely this two yeares last past in w[hi]ch the[y] haue butt paid your petic[i]oner seaven shillings a yeare.

Therefore your petic[i]oner humbly disires the premises abouesaid considered that your worshipps will be pleased to gr not onely to allowe him sixe shillings w[hi]ch is due vnto him for this two yeares last past butt alsoe to grant him your warrante ag[ains]t those persons w[hi]ch denies to pay him theire proportionable parte of the said tenne shillings and likewise your order whereby your peticioner may receaue the same said tenne shillings as aforesaid And your petic[i]oner as howeuer in dutie is bound will euer pray &c
