To the hono[u]r[able] Bench and Justis of the peace

The Peticion of Dorothie Felton

Sheweth that yo[u]r poore peticioner havinge her husband gone from her for a soldier in Ireland and levinge yo[u]r peticioner w[i]th three Children w[hi]ch is a greate Charge to maintaine havinge nothinge to keepe herselfe and her Children but w[i]th her daylie harde labor and payne takinge and also willinge to take neare hand and w[i]th meane fare to keepe yo[u]r poore peticioner and her Children from beinge Chargable to any yo[u]r poore peticioner havinge occatio[n] to by but one penniworth of Cheese desiringe one Elnor Horton to lett her have a penniworth of Cheese vntill the next day and then yo[u]r peticioner woulde have paide the said Elnor Horton which said howe Cowlde yo[u]r peticioner for shame aske her any Cheese vpo[n] trust yo[u]r peticioner Answered that it was a shamed to steale and more shame to bringe whom vppo[n] yo[u]r peticioners words this Elnor Horton called yo[u]r peticioner Jadge and biche and drunkin queane w[hi]ch yo[u]r peticioner put vp and went to her worke w[i]th pacience but before yo[u]r peticioner came to the place wheare her occatio[n] and worke was thire came one Renolde Whittickers and meete w[i]th yo[u]r poore peticioner and did most wickedly beate and strike yo[u]r peticioner she not after wards cowlde followe her worke beinge soe beaten and now there is one Ann Whittickers and Anne Deane doe threten yo[u]r poore peticioner soe vehemently that yo[u]r peticioner is a freade of her life therefore yo[u]r poore peticioner desireth yo[u]r hon[our]s for gods sake to take it vnto yo[u]r Considerations as to helpe her in this case and that sum cowrse may be taken w[i]th these p[ar]ties that yo[u]r peticioner may be in quietnes and saftie so shall yo[u]r peticion[e]r pray for you all
