The petition of ‘divers poore Pensioners’, Hertfordshire, 1656

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace for the Countie of Hartford
The humble Petition of divers poore Pensioners of this Countie of Hartford
Humbly sheweth
That wheareas you[r] Poore Petitioners, Pension[e]rs Comming to Hartford, as According to an Order of Sessions for to receive their Pensions as usually they have hitherto, your Petitioners understanding by Mr Serle, that one Mr Chamberlaine the now Treasurer being not heere your Petitioners could not haue their Pension the said Mr Chamberlaine takeing noe order for the receaving of the said moneys of the high Constables nor appoynting any in his place it being through the default of the said Mr Chamberlaine (Treasurer) that your poore Petitioners att this tyme haue not there pay & lyeing at great charges which they have litle need of, Expecting to have received there moneys for discharge there Expenses and a prejudice unto your Petitioners paying where they owe. Therefore your Petitioners humbly desire that your wor[shi]pps would seriously Consider the premises for your petitio[ne]rs releeife, there necessities being great.
And your Petition[e]rs shall ever pray &c.
