The humble petition of Dauied Allen of the parish of Cullomton
<Sheweth.>
That yo[u]r poor petitinor hath euer bin a faithfull subiect for his Maiesty & hath serued King Charles ye first of Euer Blessed & Glorious Memory & neuer Reuolted But was euer true to his Maiestyes Royall trust: and hath bin a Commission offiser: & vnder the Command of many Coll[one]ll of horse and foot: & hath bin taken a prisner fiue or 6 times & hath Receiued many wounds: and hath bin drouen from his family many times for his Loyalty: & by his great hardship now in his old age he is not able to maintaine himselfe nor family: which neuer Receiued any marke of fauer according to his Maiestys Act which now he is drouen to great pouerty
Wherefor he doth most humbly Beseech yo[u]r worshis [sic.] that you would be pleased to Commiserate his deplorable Condition who hath suffered so much for his Loyalty & of yo[u]r knowen Charity to grant him a marke or fauor according to his Maiestys Act: and yo[u]r poor petitinor shall as in duty Bound euer pray &c.
