The petition of David ap Evan of Cerrig y Drudion, Denbighshire, 15 July 1684

To the right Wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace of this County of Denbigh
The humble petic[i]on of Dauid ap Evan
Humbly sheweth to yo[u]r good Wor[shi]pps
That whereas yo[u]r petic[i]oner in the yeare of lord [sic.] 1650 being a Day labourer and wrought hard for his living, was pressed to goe a souldier for the then service in Ireland by one Evan Dauid of the parish of Llanarmon in yeale who was then Counstable in the said parish, And yo[u]r petic[i]oner continued in that service vntill the seventh Day of March 1675 at which tyme he had his Dischardge vnder his Captaines hand as may app[er]e by the annexed paper he having served in Ireland for the space of 25 yeares and had beene A souldier here in England vnder the Com[m]and of Captaine Edward Goodman in Colonell Wynnes regiment During the whole seidge at Chester and before. Now may it please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to vnderstand That yo[u]r poore petic]i]oner is aboue 70 yeares of age Impotent and allmost quite blinde insoemuch that he is not able to goe abroad to beg his bread, Therefore he Doeth humbly beg of yo[u]r wor[shi]pps that you wil be pleased out of yo[u]r charitable considerac[i]on to Comisserate his sad condic[i]on and to order him something weekly fro[m] the said parish of Llanarmon to keepe him From starving they being the occation and meanes of all his troubles;
And as in Duty bound he shall Ever pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]pps p[ro]speritie and eternall happines.

Ordered that the sum[m]e of twelue pence weekly be p[ai]d by the inhabitants of the p[ar]ish of llanarmon in yale for the releefe of the petic[i]on[er]
