The petition of Daniell Wright, Essex, 1655

To the wo[rshipfu]ll the Justices sitting att Chelmsford for the County of Essex &c.
The humble petic[i]on of Daniell Wright a poor lame Man.
Sheweth That your pet[itione]r having a long time faithfully served this Commonwealth in ye late Warrs, therein receaued Maymes & wounds w[hi]ch haue utterly disabled him for following any worke or calling towards the gay[n]ing a Livelyhood for his wife and Family, whereby seconded by much sickness and other disasters, they are become extreame poor and wanting; Having nevertheless in Considerac[i]on of his said Faithfull service, and losse of limbes, and health, noe other meanes, penc[i]on or allowance, save only 40 s. p[er] An[n]um by Order of this wo[rshipfu]ll Bench;
In tender Considerac[i]on whereof may it please yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps (now) [soe] to Order that yo[u]r pet[itione]rs said small penc[i]on may bee soe aggmented as may Conduce to the bettering of the Mainteynance of him and his poore Family, & As your Wo[rshi]pps in yo[u]r graue wisdomes shall thinke meete
And the pet[itione]r and all his as duty bindeth shall ever pray &c.
