The petition of Christopher Minty of Corsley, Wiltshire, Hilary 1662

To the right Worship[fu]ll [illegible] his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace in this county of Wilts[hire]
The Humble petic[i]on of Christopher Minty of Corsley in the Countie afores[ai]d.
May it please yo[u]r Worships
Yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner being A prest soldier And according to his Alleigence Continued in the late Warrs vnder the Com[m]and of Col[one]l Slingsbie, And Maior Thornbury in his late Ma[jes]ties Army of euer blessed memory then vnder the Com[m]and of the Lord Hopton and Sir William Ogle and was in sundry Fights as at Alesford and Banbury And Continued vntill by reason of hurt and lameness hee was dissmised home w[i]thout any pay, And being a very aged poore man haueing noe means nor estate, And not able to labour most humbly desires yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps to Comiserate his condition either by A pension for his Ma[jes]tie or otherwise According to yo[u]r Worships discretion
And yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner shall euer pray.

In all humility wee the inhabitants of Corsley abouesaid hath imboldned our selues to offer this poore mans case as a fitt Obiect for your pitty and Comiserac[i]on, not doubting of yo[u]r Clemency towards in [sic.] him in his soe poore Condic[i]on wee shall be thankfull, And remaine yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps seruants to bee Comanded
