To the Right Worshipful the Justices of the Peace at the General Sessions holden at Thirsk this present April 1685

The Humble Petition of Christopher Lyon of Thirsk

Humbly Sheweth that your Petitioner is a very poor aged blind man and that he was a souldier in the late kings service vnder the co com[m]and Sir Edward Bret in which service he receiued several wounds now apparent he hath neuer bene any way chargeable to the countrey but laboured vpon his trade as long as he was able, His Humble Petition, therefore is that your wors[hi]ps would be pleased to take into considerac[i]on his distressed condic[i]on and grant him such releif as your worships shal think fit

And your Petitioner as in duty bound shal euer pray &c
