To the hon[ou]rable Bench of his Maj[es]ties Justices of the Peace at the generall quarter Sessions Assembled
The humble petic[i]on of Christopher Berry of Morton hampsteed in the County aforesaid Weauer
<Sheweth>
That yo[u]r peticon[e]r did serue his late Maj[es]tie King Charles the first of Euer blessed memory four years and vpwards in that most unchristianlike and unhappy Warre, vnder S[i]r Edmund Fortiskue Coron[e]ll & my Captaine left Tennant Edward Reinolds of Malston yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r was in all the fight in the West Till the last Newberry fight where yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r was shote in the head Now yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r is Sixty Three yeares of age and his labour is all most don by reasson of the badnes of his Sight Causeing a great Ruhm in his Eyes by reasson of the Shote by which meanes yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r is constrained to rely upon yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps
Humbley beseeching yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps would be pleased to grant yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r the benefitt of the Common yearely pencion as yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps may Thinke fitt And as in duty bound shall Euer pray &c
