The humble petition of Charles Juit of Helmsley
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r poore petitio[ne]r hath been a true & faithfull souldier for his Ma[jes]tie King Charles the First of ever Blessed memory in his unhappie wares under the command of Sir Jordan Crosland K[nigh]t in his troope of horse in many sadd Ingadgments whereby ye poore petitio[ne]r was great sufferer both in person and estate, and being now 64 yeares of age and not able to take paines for a livelyhood as formerly I have done and having fallen into great poverty and not able to subsist without some Reliefe
Humbly beseecheth this hono[ura]ble Bench to consider of yo[u]r poore petitio[ne]rs age and poverty and loss of Estate in these unhappie warres that he may be Admitted pentio[ne]r among the Indigent Souldyers in these partes or some other Contribution as you in your Charitable Judgm[en]ts shall think fitt
And yo[u]r poore petitio[ne]r as in duty bound shall pray &c
