The petition of Catherin Perivall of Lyme, Cheshire, 13 October 1651

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll Collonell Henry Brooke
The humble petic[i]on of Catherin the wyef of Rob[er]te Perivall late of Lyme:
Shweth [sic.] that yo[u]r petic[i]on[er]s late husband was souldier vnd[e]r Captaine Steelefoxe in yo[u]r Regim[en]t and slaine in the late Battale at Worcester; who in his life:tyme was a verie a [sic.] honest painefull and Labourious man, and mayntayned (by his paines takeinge) his wyfe and seaven smale children w[i]thout beinge much burthensom to anie; w[hi]ch now haue not anie thinge to subsist vpon or to mayntaine their Livelihood; but what their good neighbours in charitie bestowe vpon them for and towards their maynteynance; besyds shee is left muche in debt and the house wherein they now [illegible] inhabite is Likelie to fall downe vpon their heads w[i]thout some speedie redresse; as wee whose names are subscribed can testifie.
The p[re]misses considered yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r and wee whose names are vnderwritten humblie intreate yo[u]r good wor[shi]pp out of yo[u]r wounted benevolence and charitablenes;) to helpe her wh w[i]th some considerable releif for and towards the mayntaynance and bringinge vp of her said children yo[u]r pet[i]c[i]on[er] and wee will ever pray &c
