To His Sacred Maiestie
The Humbill Suplication of Captain John Moncur
Sheweth.
That wheras from the beginning of thir sorrovful tymes and Actings against your Ma[jes]ties self and father, (of never dying memories) sacred Person, According to my bound Dutie to your Ma[jes]tie, I have with the hazard of my lyf, effusion of my blood, & sore and hard Imprisonment, faithfully adhered to your Majesties service vnd[e]r the com[m]and of the vno[ura]ble Lord Marqus of Montrois as also in the later trubles I have Constantlie done the same, as my certificats can clearlie evidence to your Ma[jes]tie being Banished from Scotland for that effect and since ever I was a man I hawe been serving either hir Ma[jes]tie the queen of Bohemia or the Prince of Orange as ther testificats readie to be presented to your Ma[jes]tie can also testifie. Now since it hath been my fortun and Happines once again to kiss your Ma[jes]ties hand, I humblie desire that till your Ma[jes]ties further leasur serve for my better advancement to make me ane yeoman of your Ma[jes]ties guard & thus praying for your Ma[jes]ties dailie encreas of Honor and victorie of all your enemies both at home and abroad I refer my Condition to your Ma[jes]ties gratius Consideration and Ansver and rests
