The petition of Captain Alexander Aston, royalist officer, June 1660

<The Petic[i]on of Alexander Aston.>
To the Kings most Excellent Ma[jes]tie
The humble petic[i]on of Capt[ain] Alexander Aston.
Sheweth.
That yo[u]r suppl[ican]t faithfully served his late Ma[jes]tie of ever blessed & glorious memory as Cornett of dragoones Leivtn[a]nt of Footte Capt[ain] of Foote & Leivtn[an]t of a Reformade Troope of Horse att Newarke from the first to the last oportunity in his said Ma[jes]t[y’]s service, in the late vnhappy differences in England: In w[hi]ch tyme y[ou]r pet[itione]r received severall wounds and vnderwent severall imprisonm[en]ts both here and in Ireland whither hee was forced to fly vppon the accompt of his fidelity to his said Ma[jes]tie to whome and to yo[u]r sacred Ma[jes]tie hee hath ever contynued faithfull & loyall in the worst of tymes.
That yo[u]r suppl[ican]ts late Father was imployed in his life tyme in collecting his said late Ma[jes]t[y’]s Rents in the Countye of Stafford, whereof hee gave an honest & iust accompt to the tyme of his death, and yo[u]r pet[itione]r likewise since vntill prevented by the warre
Now for as much as yo[u]r suppl[ican]t is by his constant service to & sufferings for his said late Ma[jes]tie reduced to a very lowe Condic[i]on.
May it please yo[u]r Ma[jes]tie in considerac[i]on thereof & for yo[u]r suppl[ican]ts incouragem[en]t and supportac[i]on to grant yo[u]r Suppl[ican]t yo[u]r Ma[jes]t[y’]s Order for Receipt of yo[u]r Ma[jes]t[y’]s Rents in the Counties of Salopp, Worcester, and Stafford, formerly the Receipt of Willia[m] Geare Esq[ui]r[e] deceased, vppon fitting security, So long as yo[u]r suppl[ican]t shall faithfully discharge the said office.
And (as in duty bound) yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall eu[er] pray &c
