The petition of Anne Stevenson of Kingston-upon-Hull, 27 July 1643

To the right wor[shipfu]ll the maior of Kingston upon hull & the rest the Com[m]ittee.
The humble petic[i]on of Anne Stevenson widdow late wife of John Stevenson deceased.
Humbly sheweth unto yo[u]r wor[shi]pps that your peticon[e]r her said service husband (being a Canoneere in the Parliaments service) was in his diligent executing of the same office at the late skirmish in Beverley slaine by a shott & buried there, at which tyme there was due to yo[u]r peticon[e]rs said husband a fortnights pay, which after seaventenne shillings six pence a weeke comes to Thirty Five shillings & as yet the chardgs of his burial (as your peticon[e]r perceives) are unpaid, although Colonell Bointon promised then to discharge it.
May it therefore please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to take the pr[e]misses into considerac[i]on, & to com[m]iserate her desolate Condic[i]on. And she shall ever pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]pps welfares.
