The petition of Anne Owden of Steyning, Sussex, January 1669

The humble Petic[i]on of Anne Owden of Steyning Widdow
humbly sheweth
That James Owden yo[u]r Petic[i]oners late husband being a Souldier in his Ma[jes]ties Army in the late Civill Warrs had a Penc[i]on of 40 s. p[er] annu[m] graunted him by yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps payable out of the Collection for Maymed Souldiers & Charitable vses
That since Midsum[m]er last Past the said James yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs late husband dyed leaving yo[u]r Petic[i]oner in a poore and distressed Condic[i]on having a yeare and a quarter of his Penc[i]on due to him and arreare
Wherfore it is the humble Petic[i]on of yo[u]r distressed petic[i]oner That yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps would be pleased to graunt yo[u]r Order for the paym[en]t of the arreares of yo[u]r Petic[i]oners late husbands Penc[i]on to yo[u]r Petic[i]oner Who as in duty bound shall ever Pray &c.
