The petition of Anne Brewer, Cheshire, Epiphany 1663

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll His Ma[jes]ties Justices of ye Peace for the Countie of Chester nowe Assembled.
The Humble Petic[i]on of Anne Brewer wid[ow]
Humbly sheweth
That yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]rs husband was A souldier for the Space of 3 yeares and vpwards vnder the Com[m]and of Mayor W[illia]m Mainwaringe in ye Regiment of S[i]r Francis Gamuell Barronett for the service of his Late Ma[jes]tie of ever blessed memory in w[hi]ch service he beinge Comanded out with A partie against the enemy then lyeinge att Christleton, where he was sore wounded & taken Prisoner & remayned Prisoner at Namptwich in much hardshipp by the space of fourteene weekes, By reason of the said wounds soe receaved & imprisonm[en]t as aforesaid for his faithfullnesse to his said Ma[jes]tie he languished sev[e]rell yeares afterwards till he dyed, Leaveinge yo[u]r Petic[i]oner with 3 small Children voyd of my comfort, and in all that service hee never had any pay saue ii s. vi d.
May it therefore please yo[u]r good wor[shi]ps to afford yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r some releife for her selfe & 3 small Children such as to yo[u]r wor[shi]ps shall seeme meete
And yo[u]r Pet[itioner] shall ever pray &c
Wee whose names are herevnto subscribed doe hereby Certifie that the contentes of the aboue Petic[i]on is in each p[ar]ticuler true. In Testimony whereof wee haue herevnto Subscribed our names.
