The petition of Ann Price of Hereford (St Martin’s Parish), Herefordshire, 1662 to 1663

To the Wor[shi]p[fu]ll Maior and to the Rest of the Justices of the Peace of the Cittie of Hereff[ord]

The Humble petic[i]on of Anne Price the relicte of Thomas Price of late of the p[ar]ish of Saint Martins wheelewright now deceased

Sheweth that yo[u]r peticon[e]rs husband in his lief tyme was a soldier and served in the warrs in his late Ma[jes]ties service of ever blessed memorie in w[hi]ch service he rec[eived] many and grievous wounds and hurts yett never chainged or altered from his former Loyalltie and first principles, although therevnto many tymes therevnto required w[i]th greate promises of reward soe for to doe

Now yo[u]r poore peticon[e]r beinge a very poore widdowe and not able to gaine any thinge towards her liveliehood beinge weake and aged, and not able to pay any rent

Humbly beseech yo[u]r wor[shi]ps to consider her poore condic[i]on and to graunt her the First Fall of an hospitall house where yo[u]r wor[shi]ps shall thinke fitt for a place of habitation, and to defray rent chardge

And yo[u]r poore peticon[e]r shall pray &c
