The petition of Ann Morgell of Marton, Cheshire, Easter 1671

To ye R[igh]t wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]t[y]s Justices of ye peace for the County of Chester
The humble petition of Ann Morgell widdow
<Sheweth>
That yo[u]r petition[e]rs husband was a souldier in the service of Charles the first of blessed memory and that in the tyme of the late Rebellion hee was pressed to bee a souldier for the Town[shi]pp of Marton and Northrode and went into Ireland and never from thence returned And that the Inhabitants of the said Tow[nshi]pps did Covenant w[i]th yo[u]r petition[e]r to pay her the summe of ten shillings yearely as will appeare by Articles w[hi]ch yo[u]r peti[ti]on[e]r hath to produce And that the Inhabitants of Northrode haue for severall yeares denied to pay their proportion of the said ten shillings vnto yo[u[r petition[e]r.
Yo[u]r petition[e]r therefore humbly prayes that yo[u]r wor[shi]pps would bee pleased to ordered order the Inhabitants of Northrode to pay according to their Coven[an]t And she shall ever pray &c
