To the right ho[noura]ble the Justices of the peace assembled at Nether Knuptsford for the holding of the Quarter sessions for this Countye
The petic[i]on of Ann Johnson of Ouer within this Countye widow
Sheweth to yo[u]r hono[u]rs that yo[u]r petic[ioner’s] husband hauing ever since the first begining of these late warres in this Nation beene a firme man for the parliam[en]t and a constant souldyer in their service going into Scotland vnder the Com[m]and of Capt[ain] Barker in the Regim[en]t of Col[one]l Daniel about December one thousand and six hundred & Fiftye there dyed leaving yo[u]r petic[ioner] very poore and likely to vndergoe much misery vneles yo[u]r hon[ou]rs favo[u]rs bee shewed to yo[u]r petic[ioner] therein.
May it therefore please yo[u]r hono[u]rs to admit yo[u]r petic[ioner] a penc[i]oner and to grant her the like allowance that is allotted to distressed widowes in the like case And yo[u]r petic[ioner] as in duty bound shall pray &c
