The petition of Ann Boye, City and County of Coventry, December 1644

To the right hon[oura]ble ye Earle of Essex

The humble petit[i]on of Ann Boye in behalf of her husband

Shewing

That yo[u]r pet[itione]rs husband being a souldier any time this two yeares vnder Captaine Boswell in ye regim[en]t of S[i]r William Ballford and lying verie sick and deadly wounded at Watford and nothing to helpe himselfe and I would not yt he should goe to ye hospitall by reason I have a father in Coventry a surgeon yt will cure him if I had but meanes to carry him downe, and I am come from Coventry with two children and I have nothing to helpe us.

Therefore yo[u]r pet[itione]r humbly prayeth yt you would be pleased to allow her something out of her husbands pay to carry her, her husband and her two children home into her country and her father will by ye helpe of god cure him.

And your pet[itione]r shall ever pray
