The petition of Andrew Meadland, Devon, 1664

To the right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justics of the Peace assembled at this Generall Sessions holden for this County of Devon
The humble petic[i]on of Andrew Meadland a maimed Souldier.
Humbly sheweth
That your peticoner hath been a true and Loyall Subiect vnto his late Sacred Ma[jes]tie of ever blessed memory and as a Souldier in his Service, was vnder the Command of S[i]r Henry Carey then his Collonell, wonded at Salisbury and from Hence carried a Prisoner to Southampton where he remained Prisoner the Space of Nine weeks, he hath ever been a Loyall subiect, is now in great want and extremity and not as formerly able to work for the maintainnance of himselfe and family he being taken with great paines in his lims the truth whereof your petic[i]oner can sufficiently evidence by those whose names are herevnder written
In tender Commiserac[i]on of the pr[e]misses yo[u]r Peticoner humbly prayeth yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps that you would be pleased to grant him a continuall Pension for the maintainance of himselfe and poore family
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall ever pray &c
