The petition of Allice Earneshaw of Rochdale, Lancashire, 24 March 1652

These are to Certifie vnto yo[u]r worships pleasure that the petitinor here of Allice Earneshaw of Ratchdall in the Countie of Lankaster widdow haveing hir husband sleane in the wares att the seige against Poumfret Castle whoe beeing then vnder the Command of Captaine Robert Sanderes wich said Captaine was in the Regement vnder the Command of Collonell Sir Charles Feairfax then beeing the 12th day of Febervarie bearing date in the yeare of our lord god one Thousand six hunderey fortie and eight for wich since the said time yo[u]r said poore peetitinor Never as yett Resseved any releife for the want of hir husband hee beeing there shot w[i]th a Cannon bullett and the of his harmes taken away from his body wich was pressent death vnto him for the wich said Allice his wife and Child have sustained long w[i]th much greefe and Sorow shee remaining still his wife there fore this is to dessire yo[u]r worship pleassure to Consider my Case in this my my nessetitie and this yo[u]r poore pittitinor will and ever bee in dutie bound to pray for you and remaine
