The petition of Alice Palmer of Warkton, Northamptonshire, Trinity 1668

The humble petic[i]on of Alice Palmer of Warcton widow
Sheweth
That John Palmer yo[u]r petic[i]oners late husband having faithfully served his late Ma[jes]tie in the warrs as a Souldier in the Regim[en]t of the Lord Cambden and was taken prisoner att Burly house and afterwards died leaving yo[u]r petic[i]oner w[i]th seaven smale Children destitute of livelyhood, The w[hi]ch being formerly p[ro]ved to this hon[oura]ble Court yo[u]r petic[i]oner obtained yo[u]r order for an Allowance of a yearely penc[i]on off Forty shillings w[hi]ch was accordingly paid to her vntill the same was suspended by the generall order of this Court
In respect therefore that yo[u]r petic[i]oner hath noe way to maintaine herself & Children but by her owne labour & that w[i]thout yo[u]r favo[u]rable continuance of this penc[i]on shee is like to be brought into great wants & necessities yo[u]r petic[i]oner humbly praies that for the Support of herself and poore Children ye penc[i]on formerly graunted to her may be continued
And yo[u]r petic[i]oner shall Ever pray
Shee is allowed 1 s. 6 d. a weeke to bee paid by ye Churchwardens & Ou[er]seers till further order
And to convey ye order [illegible]
