The petition of Alice Horton of Shurlach, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1651

To the ho[noura]ble the Justic[e]s of peace at this pr[ese]nte session assembled
The humble petic[i]on of Alice the late wyefe of Raphe Horton late of Shurlache deceased
<Humblie shewinge> that yo[u]r petic[i[on[e]r is a pore Lame impotent women & at that yo her husband was a souldier in the wor[shipfu]ll Collonell Croxons Regim[en]t vnder Ca[p]taine Walley, and that at the Late Battell at Worcester he was slaine in that service to the great impou[er]isinge [sic.] of yo[u]r petic[i]on[er]
The pr[e]misses tenderlie considered and since yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r is no wyse able to earne her Lyuinge and haueinge Little (but what her good freinds bestowe vpon her) to mayntaine her Livelihood humblie prayes this ho[noura]ble bench to graunt her an order whereby shee may receive some mayntaynance and yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r as in all dutie bound will eu[er] pray.
