The petition of Alice Hale of Hertford, Hertfordshire, 1655

To the Right Hon[oura]ble and Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace for the County of Hartford

The humble petition of Alice Hale Wid[ow]

Sheweth that whereas your Petitioners husband was killed in the service of the Parliament and was allowed a Pension by this Hon[oura]ble Court untill such time as notice was given of a yearely maintenance which your Petitioner received from her sonne Daniell Hale who on Condic[i]on that your Petitioner should release him out of prison before Isaach Puller Esq[uire] one of the Justices of the Hon[oura]ble Bench and Mr Church the minister of this parish and one Martha Clarke did promise to allow your Petitioner eight pounds a yeare duringe his natural life and to double it out of his estate after his decease; now your Petitioner is deprived of all, and readie to perish beinge ancient and sickly unles this Hon[oura]ble Court to w[hi]ch your Petitioner refers her cause, take some speedy course w[i]th her Potent Adversary. Your Petitioner therefore most humbly beseecheth this Hon[oura]ble Court to consider her necessitous Condition.

And she shall daily pray &c.
